The records include minutes of the board of directors, 1942-1984, constitution, by-laws, policies and practices, regulations, articles of incorporation, financial statements, budgets, operation licenses, insurance forms, applications for admission, tuition records, fee schedules, treasurers' reports, receipt books, record books of tuitions, donations and expenses, teachers roll books, and architectural drawings, 1953, for a proposed building. Correspondence of the center directors Velma Branch, Eva Randolph, Karen Jansson and Cynthia Stratton, Community Chest and United Way officials, and presidents Richard S. Callaghan, Jr., Frank D. Daniel, and R. Garsed Sketchley, Jr., concerns fundraising, personnel, finances, building maintainence, legal issues, and daily business matters. There are also photographs of children at the center; an essay, ca. 1943, entitled "Children of Mothers Who Work," describing the school and explaining its tuition policy; a brief history by Otelia L. Jackson; a radio teleplay, 1948, about the nursery; and miscellaneous printed material about the center and child care.
